EPUB to PDF Converter turns a reflowable ebook into a fixed-page PDF that prints cleanly and opens on any device. Drop in an EPUB 2 or EPUB 3 file, pick a page size (A4, US Letter, A5, or a 6 by 9 inch book format), a text size and margins, and download the result. The PDF contains real text rather than screenshots of pages, so you can select, copy and search it, and the file stays small. Chapter headings, paragraphs, lists, block quotes, code and images are carried over, the cover becomes the first page, a table of contents page links to every chapter, and PDF bookmarks let you jump around in any viewer. Accented Latin letters, Cyrillic and Greek are all supported through an embedded open source font. The conversion runs entirely in your browser: the book is never uploaded, which matters for personal libraries and unpublished manuscripts. Only DRM-free EPUB files can be converted. To read the book directly instead, open it in EPUB Reader, and to pull out just the text use EPUB to Text & Word. If you need to shrink the finished PDF further, run it through PDF Compressor.
EPUB and PDF solve opposite problems. An EPUB is essentially a small website packed into a ZIP file: XHTML chapters, a stylesheet, images, and a package file that lists the reading order. Its text reflows to fit whatever screen it is shown on, so a phone, a Kindle and a desktop all display the same book with different line breaks and page counts. A PDF fixes every line to an exact position on a page of a set size, which is why it prints predictably and looks identical everywhere, but also why it is awkward to read on a small screen. Converting from EPUB to PDF therefore means choosing a page size and laying the text out once. This converter reads the reading order (the spine) from the package file, walks each chapter, and keeps the structural elements that matter: headings at their level, paragraphs, ordered and unordered lists, block quotes, preformatted text, horizontal breaks and images. Each chapter can start on a fresh page, headings are never left stranded at the bottom of a page, and the chapter list from the book’s own table of contents becomes both a printed contents page with page numbers and the PDF bookmark tree. Images are decoded and re-encoded as JPEG, which handles the PNG, GIF, WebP and SVG files ebooks commonly contain and keeps the PDF compact. Text is set in an embedded font so the result does not depend on fonts installed on the reader’s device. What does not carry over is presentation that only makes sense in a reflowable format, such as CSS floats, drop caps and complex tables, which are simplified into plain, readable text.
